Monday, March 18

  • The library will be closed all day on Tuesday, March 19th. Please plan accordingly. If you need assistance, please ask a campus monitor.

Monday, March 11

  • Congratulations to the Batavia HS Winterguard for their first place performance at the Hersey HS Competition this past Saturday. Not only did they win their class, they were the highest score of the entire competition, scoring over an 80 at the earliest point in the season in school history! Go Guard!
  • Congratulations to the Swingsingers who wrapped up their competitive season this past Saturday. They earned a spot in the finals once again and ended the night as 3rd runner up. This was Swings’ best season in years. Everyone should come check out their show when Swingsingers perform their show for the last time in the BFAC on Tuesday, March 19.
  • Eco Club meets TODAY after school in C-109. New members are welcome! Join us as we prepare for “Battle of the Brush” this Saturday.

Tuesday, February 27

  • Congratulations to the boys swim team on finishing seventh in the state this past weekend. Ryan Fors took 17th place in both of his individual events. Ryan and Nathan Lindstrom were important parts of the 200 medley relay and the 400 free, both of which scored. Tommy Eng and Nathan both had best times in their individual events. This is the third consecutive year that the swim team finished in the top 10 in the state. Great job!
  • Congratulations to the Girls Basketball team on an outstanding season!!  29-6 overall, 2nd at Morton College Christmas Tournament, Conference Champs, Regional and Sectional Champs!!  Great job girls and coaches!!!
  • The Batavia Girls Wrestling Team finished 3rd in the State of Illinois and earned a team trophy in Bloomington this past weekend. Sydney Perry closed out her dominant Bulldog wrestling career winning her 4th state championship with a perfect high school career record of 117-0. Big congratulations to Lily Enos who also repeated as an All-State wrestler by finishing 3rd individually.

  • Congratulations to the Batavia Winterguard! The Winterguard performed at the WGI Chicagoland Regionals this past weekend and earned a spot in Finals after a strong prelims performance on Saturday. Our Winterguard earned 9th place in the Regional in Finals out of 26 guards. Congrats!

The Bulldogs’ State ranked squad travels to Shepard HS this weekend for the IHSA Regional and 3-time State Champion Sydney Perry will begin her final state series to capture an unprecedented 4th individual State Championship. The Batavia’s girls wrestling squad is currently undefeated in head to head dual meets and will face Yorkville tonight at 6:45 PM under the spotlights. Come out and “pack the place”.

  • Educators Rising will be hosting a EL Teacher Panel TODAY in C221 from 2:40-3:30. Mrs. Alholm and Mr. McCann will talk about Batavia’s EL program, the bilingual educational laws in Illinois, EL certification, and more. If you are interested in learning more about working with English Language Learners, this is the panel discussions for you. Everyone is welcome.

  • It’s Key Club week! Today’s fun fact is this – We just wrapped up Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF and all money raised will support Start Strong: Zambia — our signature project supporting UNICEF’s efforts to build early learning community centers and help parents and caregivers create nurturing environments for young children.   • Girls swimming won sectionals this past weekend! This is the first time since 1992! The three girls going on to state this week from Batavia are Audrey Lindstrom, Hollyn Ambre and Megan Sego.  Audrey will be swimming the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, and the 400 freestyle relay. At sectionals Audrey placed first in the 500!  Megan is swimming the 100 fly.  And Hollyn is swimming the 50 freestyle, the 500 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, and the 400 freestyle relay.  Go Bulldogs!

  • Congratulations to the Batavia Marching Band’s tremendous ending to their competitive season. They finished their season earning 2nd in Class 4A and the Best Visual trophy – the highest placement in school history. They earned a spot in finals for the second consecutive year being in the top 3 of bands for the first 28 bands of the day. They earned 11th in finals – again, the highest placement in school history.
  • On Wednesday October 25th, we will host a college panel for juniors and seniors. Over the past few years, St. Charles East, St. Charles North, Geneva, & Batavia have helped local families in need. This year is no different as St Charles North High School will play host to a night that will raise money for the Harland Family. Batavia versus Geneva at 5:30 pm and STCN versus STCE at 7:30 pm.

  • Congrats to the Batavia Marching Band on their Class 2A Championship at the NIU Red and Black Classic. The marching band won caption awards for Best General Effect and Best Visual while winning the Class 2A championship!

  • Batavia High School’s stem magazine, Stellarum, has finished its first ever publication! It features the hard work of students passionate about science, and even has a word search!  Swing by the LRC to check it out!
  • The city of Batavia celebrates BHS junior Alek Simeunovic for his Fox Valley Code Buddies program, which was recently recognized by Governor Pritzker for “exemplary leadership and community service.” You can read more about his story in the Kane County Chronicle, way to go Alek!

  • We would like to congratulate our Math Team for their outstanding performance at the ICTM State math competition last Saturday. Led by their captain, Kadin Johnson, the Math Team put on an impressive display and placed in multiple categories. We would like to recognize Haley Johnson for her exceptional performance in the Algebra 1 individual competition, placing 58th in the state. Additionally, Kadin Johnson placed 4th in the state in the Precalculus individual competition. The Junior Senior 8 Person Team consisting of Kadin Johnson, Connor Nguyen, John White, Eli Davis, Rose Davis, Noah Faivre, Andrew Despe, and Alek Simeunovic also had a fantastic showing, placing 4th in the state. We are proud of their hard work and dedication to the Math Team. Furthermore, the 2-person oralist team of Kadin Johnson and John White placed 7th in the state, showcasing their exceptional communication and problem-solving skills. Congratulations Mathletes! Your coaches are immensely proud of all of you for your outstanding achievements at the ICTM State math competition.
  • Congratulations to our very own Ben Hampson for winning first place at the State I.D.E.A Engineering Competition! Ben completed twenty 3D CAD models within the 2 hour time limit and no other competitor completed more than 17. Nice job, Ben!

  • This Friday, students at BHS will be participating in the National Day of Silence. Started in the mid 90’s by two college students, the Day of Silence has expanded to reach hundreds of thousands of students each year. Every April, students go through the school day without speaking, ending the day with Breaking the Silence rallies and events to share their experiences during the protest and bring attention to ways their schools and communities can become more inclusive.
