Graduation Ceremony

We are excited to announce that we will be celebrating our seniors outdoors at NIU (map here) in one ceremony.  One of our seniors’ key requests was a single ceremony where they can all be together.  A reminder that the dates are Wednesday, May 26th at 7:00 pm with a rain date of Thursday, May 27th at 7:00 pm.  The use of a rain date will be announced using our email and text/phone messenger system, school website, and social media.  This determination will be made by the NIU staff.  We will make every effort to make this decision as early as possible so families can make plans.

This video gives graduates and their guests instructions for attending the Class of 2021 Commencement Ceremony at NIU’s Huskie Stadium (1425 W Lincoln Hwy, DeKalb, IL 60115):

Each graduate will be given seven (7) tickets for graduation.  We cannot distribute any additional tickets to graduates or their families.  The ceremony will be held at NIU’s Huskie Stadium.

Other new information:

  • We will distribute envelopes to all seniors on Tuesday, May 25th from 8 am – 2 pm and Wednesday, May 26th from 8 am – 12 pm in the BHS atrium (Main Street entrance).  These envelopes contain ceremony tickets, vaccination records, honor cords, honor stoles, and other important items.  We cannot distribute these items at NIU.  Seniors or their parent/guardian must pick up these envelopes on the designated dates.  We cannot give these envelopes to other students due to the sensitive nature of the contents.
  • We will not hold a traditional graduation practice.  We will send all seniors and their families a video the week prior to the ceremony with all essential details.

Guidelines from NIU:

  • All guests 1 years and up must have a ticket.
  • Guests, Graduates, Faculty & Staff must wear a mask at all times unless they are delivering speeches or reading graduate’s names.
