  3. How do I order a senior yard sign? This can be done on PowerSchool.  Orders must be placed by March 15th.  Signs typically arrive in late April and are distributed after school.  We will send more information once the signs arrive at BHS.
If you need to add this purchase, it can be a bit tricky to find.  Here are the steps:

    • Log into the parent PowerSchool portal
    • Click on Payments
    • Click on Pay Now
    • Click on Add Optional Items
    • At the bottom, there is an option called “Senior Signage”
  4. What about early graduates?  Early graduates can participate in graduation.  They may not participate in spring extra-curricular activities.  Early grads will still have access to their BPS email and should check occasionally for updates.  Parents of early grads will not receive Messenger emails after December 2020.

Graduation Ceremony

As with all events in the last year, we know that we need to be flexible.  The following is our plan for celebrating our graduates this year.  As we get closer to the date, we will continue to update families on final details.

Plan #1: Indoor Ceremony at NIU’s Convocation Center on May 26, 2021

An indoor ceremony is our first preference to avoid the fickle Illinois weather.  This plan would require advance distribution of tickets to graduates.  The number of tickets has not been determined at this time.  We will continue to work with NIU and the DeKalb Health Department to determine the capacity for this type of ceremony.  It is possible that multiple ceremonies will need to take place in order to comply with capacity limitations.

Plan #2: Outdoor Ceremony at NIU’s Huskie Stadium on May 26, 2021 (Rain Date: May 27, 2021)

This option provides us with a larger seating and parking capacity than Bulldog Stadium.

Plan #3: Outdoor Ceremony at BHS’s Bulldog Stadium on May 26, 2021 (Rain Date: May 27, 2021)

This option would only be used if state or local authorities require us to cancel our plans at NIU.  If we are required to use this option, we would have multiple ceremonies to accommodate group size requirements.   This plan would require advance distribution of tickets to graduates.

While we cannot hold a traditional prom event, we are excited to hold a seniors-only celebration at the high school.  In our survey of seniors, the overwhelming majority of students requested an event that allowed for getting “fancy” and taking photos.  We hope to accomplish both!

Here are some basic details:

When: May 8, 2021

Where: Batavia High School

Time: TBD

Tickets: Advance purchase will be required.  Group size is TBD.  Tickets will go on sale the week of April 26th.

What: A student-planned celebration including photo opportunities, food, music, prizes, and much more!  Formal apparel is optional and non-BHS students are not allowed to attend.
