Jazz Bands
Jazz Band is a co-curricular opportunity that meets from November until Spring Break. Students audition for placement in Jazz Ensemble, our top jazz band. Any student in our music department interested in jazz may join Jazz Workshop with no audition. However, students must perform on a jazz instrument. Jazz Workshop and Jazz Ensemble meet after school from 2:45-4:15 twice a week. Students may elect to join jazz combos that meet outside the schedule of the traditional jazz band.
Jazz Ensemble performs at numerous jazz festivals throughout the Chicagoland area and combines with Jazz Workshop to perform at the All-City Jazz Festival in January and our annual Night of Jazz at The Venue in Aurora before Spring Break.
There is a BHS School Fee to be in the jazz bands each year, and students must purchase the jazz polo uniform once during their jazz experience at Batavia High School.
