Friday, September 22

 

  • Picture Retake day will be next Monday the 25 in the Atrium from 7am-2pm. Make sure you bring the original picture packet with you.
  • Would you like to help preserve our native prairies? Please join Eco Club with our Seed Collection Event on Tuesday September 26 at 3pm at the Dick Young’ Forest Preserve. Students will work with a naturalist from the Kane County Forest Preserve to identify and gather seeds. No experience necessary. Contact Mrs. Faulhaber for more details.
  • Come to the Homecoming Football game tonight @ 7pm.  The theme is whiteout!!  Go Dawgs!!

Thursday, September 21

  • Come out and support your Bulldog Soccer team tonight:  Tri-City Night is a special event where the four Tri-City Soccer Programs get together for a good cause. Over the past few years, St. Charles East, St. Charles North, Geneva, & Batavia have helped local families in need. This year is no different as St Charles North High School will play host to a night that will raise money for the Harland Family. Batavia versus Geneva at 5:30 pm and STCN versus STCE at 7:30 pm.

Wednesday, September 20

  • Today’s College Panel starts at 9:30 in A101. Representatives from Arizona State University, University of Iowa, North Carolina State University, Michigan Technological University, University of Alabama, and University of Nevada. Registered junior and senior students will receive passes at the start of Block 2 today.
  • Congrats to the Varsity Girls Golf team on taking 4th place in the conference tournament yesterday afternoon. Mandy Naylor finished 3rd while Avery Sheehan finished 2nd. Mya Henderson, Danielle Domanus, Ellie Morman, Emma Moran, and Brooke Besic also contributed. Nice job ladies and go Dawgs!
  • Congrats to the JV girls golf team yesterday on finishing 5th in conference. Abi Edwards placed 10th while Maddie Celing placed 2nd. Rachel Carlson and Aubrey Reagan also contributed. Nice job ladies and Go Dawgs!

Tuesday, September 19

  • Come out to support your Volleyball teams as they take on Wheaton North for homecoming tonight! Lower levels start at 4:30 and Varsity starts at 5:30! Theme is White Out!
  • Tomorrow’s spirit day theme is Barbie vs Ken.  The first 50 people dressed in the theme will get a beach ball stress ball.
  • The homecoming parade starts at 5pm tomorrow! Come out and see all of our amazing clubs and sports teams.

Monday, September 18

  • Congrats to the Batavia Marching Band on their Class 2A Championship at the NIU Red and Black Classic. The marching band won caption awards for Best General Effect and Best Visual while winning the Class 2A championship!
  • Attention Juniors and Seniors! Today is the last day to register for this week’s College Panel. Come and hear from Arizona State University, University of Iowa, North Carolina State University, Michigan Technological University, The University of Alabama and The University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  Wednesday’s Panel is held during 2nd Block this week.

Are you interested it attending leadership conferences at Aurora University? If so, then Educators Rising is the club for you. Ed Rising will meet today in C221 at 2:40 and Tuesday morning at 7:00.   • Dog Pound membership has been re-opened for anyone who may want to join. Registration will close tonight at 11:59 so do not wait too long to register! Shirts and lanyards can be picked up this Friday during lunch periods. Today is the last day that you will be able to sign up for Dog pound so don’t forget to purchase a membership through 5 Star.

Be at the field by 6:15 AM with a blanket and chair to watch the sunrise and kick off our senior year together! Be on the lookout for an email from Mrs. Burns with details!

  • Congrats to the Varsity Girls golf team on beating Wheaton North yesterday. Lauren Sudler paved the way for the Dawgs while Mandy Naylor, Avery Sheehan, and Brooke Besic rounded out the top 4. Great job ladies!
  • Congrats to the freshman boys soccer team for beating Sycamore 5-3 last night. Two goals by Nolan Grimm and Michael Bergman with one goal from Michael Quinlan to complete the scoring. Good luck today against Neuqua Valley to all the teams!

  • BHS Pride Alliance – our LGBTQIA+ community here at Batavia High School – is kicking off the new school year with a Back to School Bash in the LRC after school on Tuesday. Join us for crafts, swag, games, and a free pop up closet from Out of the Closet Charity. We will be there until 3:30, so come for the whole time, or as much as you can.  We will be accepting donations for the free pop up closet for students till next Tuesday.   • We would like to congratulate our Math Team for their outstanding performance at the ICTM State math competition last Saturday. Led by their captain, Kadin Johnson, the Math Team put on an impressive display and placed in multiple categories. We would like to recognize Haley Johnson for her exceptional performance in the Algebra 1 individual competition, placing 58th in the state. Additionally, Kadin Johnson placed 4th in the state in the Precalculus individual competition. The Junior Senior 8 Person Team consisting of Kadin Johnson, Connor Nguyen, John White, Eli Davis, Rose Davis, Noah Faivre, Andrew Despe, and Alek Simeunovic also had a fantastic showing, placing 4th in the state. We are proud of their hard work and dedication to the Math Team. Furthermore, the 2-person oralist team of Kadin Johnson and John White placed 7th in the state, showcasing their exceptional communication and problem-solving skills. Congratulations Mathletes! Your coaches are immensely proud of all of you for your outstanding achievements at the ICTM State math competition.
  • Congratulations to our very own Ben Hampson for winning first place at the State I.D.E.A Engineering Competition! Ben completed twenty 3D CAD models within the 2 hour time limit and no other competitor completed more than 17. Nice job, Ben!

Started in the mid 90’s by two college students, the Day of Silence has expanded to reach hundreds of thousands of students each year. Every April, students go through the school day without speaking, ending the day with Breaking the Silence rallies and events to share their experiences during the protest and bring attention to ways their schools and communities can become more inclusive.   • Today the 21st of March is nowruz, the Persian new year. It is mainly celebrated by people of Afghanistan, Iran and Tajikistan. Nawruz is the time of renewal, reflection and celebration of spring. During this holiday, Persians display a tabletop called haft-sin. Everyone can check out our haft-sin table in the LRC today. The Open Circle club will also be celebrating nowruz tomorrow after school in room B103. If you would like to join in the celebration, write your name on the haft-sin table in LRC or email Mrs. Hack.

 

  • Congratulations to Tucker Oakes, Thomas Woodard, Owen Hartman, and Luke Monalto who competed in 2 Bass fishing tournaments in Southern Illinois this past weekend. Tucker and Thomas finished 8th out of 85 teams while Owen and Luke finished in 23rd place at Lake Kinkaid. Tucker and Thomas also finished 9th out of 98 teams while Owen and Luke finished in 40th place at Lake of Egypt. Batavia High School is currently in the top 15 teams in the state.
  • Congratulations to the JV Girls Soccer Team on their season opening 4-0 win over Oswego. The goal scorers were Emma Wecker and Addison Wujciga with two a piece. Kylee Gehrt also came up with the big shutout! Solid team effort!   Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Soccer Team on their season opener winning 3-1 over Oswego, goals Riley Dibiase, Lily Figueras! Good luck to both teams today at Naperville Central!

  • Congratulations to the Batavia Math Team for their performance at the ICTM Regional Math Competition on Saturday. Kadin Johnson earned a perfect score on the Pre-Calculus exam helping secure a 2nd place finish for the team. The Junior/Senior 8-person team won 1st place earning 45 points more than the team that finished in second. Kadin Johnson and John White earned first place in the Oralist Competition.   • Thanks to everyone who came out to Top Dog this past weekend! Ryan Whitwell got 2nd runner up, Sanjay Dave got 1st runner up, and our Top Dog 2023 was Norah Thurow! It was a great night with a ton of amazing talent. We raised over $3,000 for the Kiwanis Neuroscience Research Foundation. If you’re upset you missed the show, mark your calendar, because Next year’s Top Dog will be January 13, 2024!

The junior/senior 8-person team of Alek Simeunovic, TJ Stras, Noah Faivre, Eli Davis, Connor Nguyen, Kendall Knecht, Dhruthi Daggubati, and Sanjay Dave got 6th place. The calculator teams of Amaya Hewamanage, Rose Davis, Aaron Perrault, Kadin Johnson, Mithali Obadage, Alek Simeunovic, Eli Davis, and Andrew Despe got 4th place. Great job, team!   • The Batavia Scholastic Bowl Team opened their competition season with a JV and Varsity sweep of St. Charles North and Wheaton North High School on Thursday, Nov 3rd. Led by a number of returning team members, JV and Varsity outscored their opponents by a combined score of 1,410 to 750. Great job!

  • Congratulations to the Batavia Marching Band on their award-winning performance at the Marching Band State Finals this past Saturday! The band earned their 4th consecutive 3rd place this season in class. In addition, the band earned Best Visual Performance. The marching band was selected to perform in finals for the first time in Batavia HS history. Congrats to all of the marching band students!

  • Congratulations to the Batavia Varsity Girls Tennis team for winning the IHSA St. Charles North Sectional tournament this past weekend! The Bulldogs were led by Sectional Singles champion Dhruthi Daggubati and Sectional doubles 2nd place finishers Julia Arulandu and Erin Connolly. These three girls qualified for the IHSA state meet that will begin on Thursday. We also received key contributions from the rest of our sectional lineup. Senior Audrey O’Connel had two big wins and Seniors Taylor Steinys and Hannah Schneider had a big doubles win over St. Charles East. The 2022 Varsity Girls Tennis team finished the regular season 15-0 overall and 7-0 in conference, in addition, they won their fourth straight conference title and second consecutive sectional championship. Congratulations on this amazing accomplishment ladies!
