BHS philharmonic won best orchestra, Emily Smith received accolades for the best instrumental solo, and Charlie Voirin won the ovation award for outstanding leadership in music.

  1.  Attention all freshmen,  sophomores and juniors:  Tomorrow is BHS Assessment Day.  Check for your testing location today on the sheets outside the atrium and near the LRC.  Please leave your backpacks and cell phones at home or in your car.  Backpacks and cellphones are not allowed in the testing rooms.  Please do not use your lockers.  In addition, it is important  that you to bring two #2 pencils and calculator, school ID and you are not late for school.  School will be dismissed at 12:00.
  2. Attention seniors:  This Wednesday all seniors will be attending a presentation with a focus on mental health and wellness.  This presentation will take place during 2nd block in the BFAC.  Please make sure that you go to your 2nd block class ahead of time so that your teacher can take attendance.  Also, please make sure that you bring your belongings with you to the BFAC since you will  not have time to return to the classroom after the presentation.  Please check your email for more information about the presentation topics.

Roaring Robotics was selected for the play-off matches and our team made it to the semi-finals.  Our team was a runner-up for the Safety Award and our team Safety Captain, Ava Langstaff was awarded the Safety Star of the Day award during competiton.

  1. Congratulations to the BHS Math Team on their exciting Upstate 8 Conference Math Contest last Thursday. Our 12-person JV team placed 4th, our 12-person Varsity team placed 3rd, and our Varsity 2-person team of Jonathan Li and Justin Chu placed 4th.   In individual competition, we placed in Geometry and Pre-Calculus.  In Geometry, Faith Cramer placed 3rd and Aidan Walker placed 2nd, helping the entire Geometry team to a 3rd place finish.  In Pre-Calculus, Justin Chu and Michael Henne placed 3rd, Christian Tamar placed 2nd and Ava Langstaff placed 1st, helping the entire Pre-Calculus team to a 1st place finish in Conference.

  1. Congratulations to the BHS Show Choirs for outstanding performances at the Chesterton Competition last Saturday. Legacy earned First Runner Up in their division and the award for Best Choreography.  Swing singers earned third place across all categories, a slot in the final round, and the award for the best combo.

This hilarious show will constantly have you guessing who the killer is and why the victims keep popping up still alive.  Students are invited to attend one performance FREE on February 1st, 2nd, or one of the two performances on the 3rd.  Students must reserve their ticket in advance.  Tickets will be available during lunches next week on January 29th, 30th, and 31st.

  1. The Batavia Scholastic Bowl team opened their 2017 season at Elgin High School last night. Varsity finished strong beating Elgin by a score of 450 to 210 and West Aurora by a score of 490 to 90.   JV fought hard only to be edged out by Elgin by 10 points.

  5. This weekend, the Batavia High School Marching Band attended the Lake Park Lancer Joust Competition. They placed 3rd and earned best General Effect in Class 2A.  They also made finals placing 10th.

Congratulations to the varsity girls golf team on winning the Oak Forest Invitational this past Saturday.  Madi McCoy shot a 2 over 74 to take second place overall while Cassie Norville shot an 83 to take 8th place.  Lauren  Grychowski, Sammi Hasemann and Reagan Freebourn all contributed to the victory.

  1. Congratulations to the varsity girls golf team on beating the U-46 Co-op team yesterday. Low rounds were had by Kaitlyn Stangl, Sammi Hasemann and Madi McCoy.  The low round of the day was had by Sammi Wicks who shot a 3 over par 39.  Awesome job ladies.

  1. Batavia Girls’ Volleyball program is looking for a few more team managers. Any boy or girl who likes the sport and would like to be involved 2-3 days per week, please contact Coach Wilkie or Coach Trippi-Payne as soon as possible.

  1. Congratulations to the girls varsity golf team on taking 2nd place out of 11 teams at the Huntley High School Invite. The team Madi McCoy, Cassie Norville, Kaitlyn Stangl, Sammie Hasemann and Reagan Freebourn played exceptionally well.  Madi McCoy placed 3rd while Kaitlyn Stangl and Cassie Norville placed 13th and 14th respectfully.  Nice job ladies.
