Congratulations to Dylan Krol, Nick Wenzel, and Lizzy Fors for qualifying for the state bass fishing tournament by winning yesterday sectional tournament.

Congratulations to the 2019 Math team for competing at the State Competition at the University of Illinois this past Saturday.  All of our team events placed in the top 25 in the State for 3AA with our Frosh-Soph placing and getting awarded for 8th in the eight person team

Tonight is the AP Art Show “Emerge” at Water Street Studio.  Please join us as we celebrate the work of our 2019 portfolio submitting artists:  Zoe Finger, Anthony Guido, Madeline Schuster, Meghan Thayer, and Amelia Thorgesen.  While you are there purchase a student-crafted empty bowl for $10 and receive free Kimmers ice cream.  All proceeds benefit the Batavia InterFaith Food Pantry. Bowls were created by students in the 3D art class.

Fermi STEM Career Expo committee is in need of student volunteers to help out at the expo this Wednesday, April 17th.  Two students are needed from 8:15 p.m. till 9:15 p.m. See Mrs. Molloy if you would like to volunteer.

Congratulations to the Batavia Winter Guard for placing 2nd in Class at the Midwest Color Guard Championships this past weekend.   They scored a 76.9 in Class 2A. Congratulations to all of our Winter Guard members.

Congratulations to Boys Swim Athlete, Kyle Wolford.  Kyle finished his high school swim season this past Saturday at State competing in the 100 yard backstroke.  He was seeded 21st (tied) and swam at a time of 51.95, personal best, giving him a ranking of 15th in the State for the 100 yard backstroke setting a new team record for the West Chicago-Batavia Co-Op.

Congratulations to Nathan Omerza who was named the #5 Top Scorer at the DuKane Conference Scholastic Bowl meet for the 2018-19 season.  The team as a whole competed at conference last night.   JV finished out a strong season coming up just short against Geneva.  The Varsity beat Geneva only to come up just short in the semi finals round against Glenbard North .

Congratulations to who participated in the 2nd Annual Battle of the Brush on Saturday.  Batavia was crowned champion for removing the most invasive trees from Fabyan Woods. They beat Geneva, Metea Valley and Marmion.  Great work!

Please join us for the Automata Unveiling during 2nd and 3rd blocks in room A101 today.  This project is a collaboration between the 3D Art, Building Trades and Project Lead the Way classes.   Artists and Engineers will be on hand during 2nd block to demonstrate the movement of these sculptures.  Teachers are welcome to bring classes down to view our works.

NHS raised $5,368 hosting No Shave November!  They quadrupled what last year made!  All proceeds will be going to three cancer charities.

Congratulations to the girls’ swim team who competed at State this past weekend.  The 200 yard Medley Relay team of Kelly Sego, Ashley Sego, Michaela Herwig, and Annabelle Kinerk placed 9th in the state. Kelly Sego also placed 9th in the 200 yard Individual Medley and 8th in the 100 yard backstroke.

Support our volleyball teams as we Volley 4 the Cure tonight at home vs. St. Charles North.  Kick off St. Charles North week by helping us raise funds for cancer research. It’s a pink out!!!

Congrats to the JV tennis team on winning the Dukane Conferences tournament.  The JV1 team placed first overall with first place finishes fro third singles Lily Wright, first doubles Adriana Carbonara and Hailey Durso, third doubles Alli Ten Haken and Kyle Kahley, and fourth doubles Lindsey Hupach and Kaitlyn Collazo.

JV2 team also placed first overall with first place finishes from first doubles Sarah Stasell and Kendall Tollas, second doubles Zoe Bassett and Olivia Murchie, and third doubles Sophie Hagen and Sofia Pepping.  

Varsity girls tennis team wrapped up the conference season over the weekend by ending in a tie for first place in the conference tournament.  Individual champions include Hailey Flannigan in singles and the doubles team Katie Connolly and Bella Lins. Bulldogs also received second place finishes from Maddie Durso and Grayson Ferrell at first doubles and Alex Klein and Kassie Hupach at third doubles.

Last year, our team won the Upstate 8 Conference and now we’ve set our sights on the DuKane Conference title.  Our first meeting will take place this Monday, September 24th after school in room D103.

It’s Homecoming Week!  Tomorrow is USA Day, Thursday is class t-shirt day, and Friday is Bulldog Pride.

Homecoming shirts are on sale for $10 during lunches while supplies last.  Homecoming tickets are on sale now. See the Student Council Twitter details.  Tomorrow: Parade downtown Batavia at 5:00 p.m. Friday: Football game and theme is whiteout.

It’s Tuesday, so do you know what that means?  You will hear from the Activity Director, Mrs. Gajos, with her “Tuesday Tips!”  This week, Mrs. Gajos is telling you about Pride Points. How it works is you come to an event, get your ID scanned, or check in on the 5 Star App.  Pride Points equals prizes.

In 2018, Girls Wrestling has been designated as an “Emerging Sport” by the IHSA and girls wrestling competition is being supported by high schools statewide.  If you are interested in being part of history of joining the first ever BHS girls wrestling team this winter season, there will be a girls only meeting in room C119 after school this Friday.   See Coach Bayer if you have questions.

Congratulations to the JV girls tennis team on taking first place at the Belvidere Invite over the weekend.    The girls went undefeated at the tournament with singles players Sarah Huck and Morgan Haug taking first place at first and second singles.  The doubles teams of Hailey Durso and Adriana Carbonara, Lindsey Hupach and Kaitlyn Collazo, Lily Wright and Isabella Helm took first place as well at the first, second and third doubles positions.

Boys and girls open gym has started for the months of September and October.  List of dates will be posted outside of rooms D108 and D110.

Congratulations to the girls golf team on winning their conference showdown with Lake Park last night.  The story of the round was Ainslee Parker shooting a 38 to help the Bulldogs come down from behind and win.  Other low rounds were had by Cassie Norville, Sammi Hasemann and Lauren Grychowski.

Batavia tennis got off to a great start this week with program sweeps of Lake Park and Glenbard North.  The Bulldog varsity defeated Lake Park 5-2 on Tuesday including a big win at 1 doubles by Maddie Durso and Grayson Ferrell.  Last night, the Bulldog varsity cruised past Glenbard North 6-1. Now the Bulldogs are now 11-1 overall and 2-0 in conference.

Next week is homecoming!  Monday is colors wars:  Freshmen are orange, sophomores are purple, juniors are green, and seniors are blue. Tuesday will be dress your theme: Freshmen are wild west, sophomores are the big apple, juniors are west coast, and seniors are Hawaii.  Wednesday: USA Day.  Thursday: Class t-shirt day.  T-shirts will be sold next week during lunches.  Friday:  Bulldog Pride.

The varsity boys golf team picked up a huge Tri-Match victory against WWS and STCE last night.  Led by Will Huber’s 1-under par score of 35. Also scoring was Ari Fragen, Griffin Unterberg, Colin Koske, and Jake Kleist.

Let’s appreciate our BHS staff tonight and honor them at our volleyball home match.  Cheer your teams on vs. Glenbard South tonight at our house. Varsity immediately follows the 4:30 JV match.

This past Saturday, the Batavia Marching Band performed at the Lake Park Lancer Joust.  The band won best percussion along with 3rd place in Class 2A. The band made finials, where they placed 10th overall.  Keep up the work BMB.

Varsity girls tennis team is off to a great start this season.  The Bulldogs have a record of 9-1 and have already won two weekend tournaments and finished second in another.  The girls will open the conference season at home today against Lake Park.

Congratulations to the girls swim team on their win against West Aurora last night.  Good job by the 400 free relay teams of Ashley Sego, Annabelle Kinerk, Addy Novak, and Jill Trnka and Alaina Gilsinn, Elle Gerster, Gabby Fernandez, and Kayleigh Kuchewski, who finished 1-2 in the final event to secure 93-90 win.

Good luck to our volleyball teams as they play all 5 levels at Wheaton Academy tonight.  Varsity plays at 6:30 following all of our other teams.

Any athlete not currently in a fall sport who is interested in wrestling during the winter season should plan to attend a wrestling pre-season meeting tomorrow after school in room C119.  This includes all wrestlers on the team last season and any freshmen or new wrestlers interested in wrestling this upcoming season not currently in a fall sport. Girls are also welcome as this is the first year in BHS history that our school is trying to create girls wrestling team.   See Coach Bayer, Coach Farwell or Coach Miller with any questions.

Attention all Seniors:  Batavia High School Voter Registration Drive will be starting during all lunches in the atrium every Thursday and Friday  until October 5th. All seniors should stop by to ask questions, and register to vote if their birthday is on/or before election day on November 6th.

Attention all students: It’s time for a contest!  We need your help naming some bulletin boards throughout the school that will highlight club, activity and athletic happenings, announcements, posters and flyers.  The contest winner will receive a gift card. Calling all actors and actresses to audition for Fall Musical:  Chicago! Singing and dancing auditions will be held today. Sign ups are on the drama board and the audition music is on the Batavia Fine Arts Centre website.

Team Bulldog is a club that provides opportunities for all students to socialize in a safe environment and promotes awareness for individuals with special needs.  If you are interested in being a mentor there will be meeting Wednesday, August 29th after school in room B117.

It’s time to join Key Club!  We are a volunteer organization and you should come see what we’re all about.  Meetings are held on Tuesdays at 7:15 a.m. and Thursdays after school in room A101.  You do not have to attend both meetings just pick a time that works for your schedule.

Attention all Anime Enthusiasts:  Join us at our first Anime Club meeting on Wednesday, August 22nd after school in room C109.  We play games, watch movies and discuss hot topics that are all related to Anime. New members are always welcomed.

Interact Club will be having a back to school informational meeting on Wednesday, August 22nd with pizza and refreshments in room B125.  Hope to see you there.

Tonight starting at 4:00 p.m., our Sophomore and Freshmen volleyball teams kick off the season in a Quad tournament in our gym here at BHS.  Make your evening fun by kicking off your week with watching some volleyball.

If you still need to turn in your physical and medical forms for Meningitis or freshmen physical to the nurse, please check in with your first block teacher and turn your forms to the nurse’s office immediately. Nurse’s office is located in the main hallway across from the gym.

Still need your ID picture taken?  Picture make-up is next Thursday, August 23rd from 7:00-2:00 for students including seniors to have their ID pictures taken.

Are you interested in joining the Dog Pound?  Memberships are on sale now! You can purchase them online for $35.00 and during lunches today and tomorrow at the ticket booth.
