Monday, August 17 – Vocal & Acting Auditions
Location: Choir Room
Auditions will be scheduled in 5-minute time slots. Please sign up for a slot in advance and arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled audition time to check in and prepare.

Vocal Audition Expectations
Hadestown is an intensely actor-driven musical. In this production, you can never simply sing a song, you must tell a story.
Your acting will be evaluated throughout your vocal audition. Every lyric, pause, and musical phrase should have intention. We strongly encourage you to break your audition song into clear emotional beats, make purposeful choices, and ensure every word and every rest communicates something to the audience.
We are looking for performers who connect deeply to the material and who are willing to take creative risks.
Interview Component
Following your vocal audition, you may be asked one or more interview questions.
These questions are not designed to have a “right” answer. Instead, they help us understand how you think as an artist and how you approach the creative process. We value performers who actively contribute ideas, explore possibilities, and collaborate with the creative team rather than waiting to be directed every moment they are on stage.
Tuesday, August 18 – Dance Auditions
Time: 4:15 PM
Location: Black Box Theatre
Dress: WEAR shoes! Gym shoes, jazz shoes etc. NO sandles. Wear clothing you can move in. Do not arrive in clothing that is too baggy which could cause you to trip.
All auditioning performers are required to attend the dance audition, regardless of the role(s) they are seeking.
Please arrive by 4:00 PM to check in and warm up.

We encourage performers of all experience and skill levels to audition.
Hadestown: Teen Edition thrives because of the unique perspectives, personalities, and strengths every performer brings. Whether you are an experienced dancer, a strong actor, a developing singer, or someone who simply loves telling stories, you have something valuable to contribute.
Our goal is to build an ensemble rich in individuality, creativity, and collaboration. Every performer adds a new texture to the world of Hadestown, and we can’t wait to see what you bring.
