BHS Business Career Exploration Event 2023
The Batavia High School Business Career Exploration Event took place this morning, providing an opportunity for students to learn more about various career options within the business field. The event was held in the Batavia Fine Arts Centre atrium and black box, with 15 local businesses meeting with 75 students through tabletop conversations.
The event took place during 2nd Block, and students from all grade levels attended. Table assignments were set up in a way that allowed students to visit four different, pre-selected professionals for about 15 minutes each. The businesses represented various industries and professional levels.
The most popular tables included current CEOs, Business Owners, and a Physical Therapist. Another popular table was set up by a local Bookkeeper. She was available to answer questions and talk to students about her day-to-day work. She also provided some helpful tips on preparing for a career in accounting, including sharing the experience of meeting a student here a couple of years ago that turned into an internship for the student.
Throughout the morning, students learned more about a wide range of career options within the business field. They had the opportunity to speak with professionals in each industry, ask questions, and get a better sense of what it would be like to work in each field.
The event was a great success, with many students saying they gained valuable insights into potential career paths. Paige Buttels, College and Career Counselor at BHS, hopes that the event will inspire more students to pursue careers in the business field and help them make informed decisions about their future.
