BHS Students Compete in VEX Robotics World Championship

Submitted by: Alexandria Tang (Connor Nguyen’s mom)

Last week, 5 BHS students (team 355V- Orange Mamba) went to compete at the VEX Robotics World Championship 2023 in Dallas, Texas. This is the largest robotics competition in the world. There were 809 teams from more than 40 countries at this competition. The top 17 teams from Illinois were sent to compete this year. In order to qualify to compete in the world, each team has to win at least one regional championship. From the group of regional champions, they have to compete at the state, where the top 17 teams were chosen to attend the world. This year team 355V qualified by winning the Illinois state VEX robotics championship. At the world competition, 355V was one of 80 teams that made it to the semifinals. The team also competed last year at the world, where they won the design award.
