BHS Youth and Government Club Host State Rep
Last week the BHS club Youth & Government hosted the 49th District Representative Maura Hirschauer. The Representative shared her process for proposing Illinois legislation and seeing a bill through congress. These steps are what the Youth & Government members are learning as part of a statewide program through the Illinois YMCA Youth & Government. Students work together from September through November to develop new state bills. In March we travel as a club to Springfield to debate our “mock” legislation in the Capitol Senate and House Chambers!
