Certificates of Excellence at BHS

Paige Buttels, College and Career Counselor at BHS, started the “Nominate A Batavia HS Staff Member” in September 2021. Here is the program summary: Is there a Batavia HS staff member who has demonstrated kindness or gone above and beyond that you would like to recognize? This could be a teacher, administrator, school psych, social worker, counselor, campus monitor, cafeteria worker, custodian, library specialist, or anyone that has positively impacted you!

When asked about starting the program, Mrs. Buttles said, “I knew many of my colleagues were struggling, and their cups were empty following the pandemic. I also knew our staff members were truly amazing, but they were not getting enough positive feedback.” So, Paige decided to add a column to the monthly grade-level newsletter she sends to students and families so they could nominate Batavia HS staff members who demonstrate kindness & go above and beyond.
Dr. Smith, BHS Principal, agreed to support this staff recognition program by going into classrooms of nominated staff members to let them know how special they are. We decided to include all our administration and spread the joy. An admin and I set up times (based on each teacher’s schedule) to go into staff offices/classrooms & surprise them, letting them know a parent or student nominated them as someone who goes above/beyond, and we thank them for being awesome in front of their classes.
So far, the program has received 56 nominations from parents/guardians and students. To nominate a BHS staff member, please complete this form.
