Spring 2025 Assessments
August 27, 2024
Dear Parents and Guardians,
In the spring of 2024, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) announced that the state would not renew its contract with the College Board for the SAT. Instead, the state will use the ACT as the high school accountability assessment. The ACT includes multiple-choice tests in four areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science, as well as a writing section for all Illinois high schools. Batavia High School will administer the ACT assessments in April. Below is a list of assessments that will be administered to our students:
- JUNIORS: ACT
- SOPHOMORES: PreACT
- FRESHMEN: PreACT 8/9
Please note: The ACT for juniors is the state’s accountability assessment and is required for graduation and to receive a high school diploma.
More detailed information, including testing day requirements and expectations for asynchronous remote learning, will be sent to students closer to the test date. The testing dates are as follows:
March 19th | APRIL 22nd |
Freshmen: In-Person: PreACT 8/9 | Freshmen: Asynchronous: Remote Learning |
Sophomores: In-Person: PreACT | Sophomores: Asynchronous: Remote Learning |
Juniors: Asynchronous: Remote Learning | Juniors: In-person: ACT |
SENIORS: Asynchronous: Remote Learning |
