Batavia vs Geneva this Friday to Continue "Competing for a Cause"

101st Crosstown Classic Football Game Pits Batavia vs. Geneva with the Continued Tradition of “Competing for a Cause”

BATAVIA — On Friday, Oct. 4, Geneva and Batavia High School football fans will not only be meeting up at Geneva’s Burgess Field for the 101st crosstown classic game, but they will also be wearing competing T-shirts.

Both high schools will be selling Geneva vs. Batavia “Competing for a Cause” T-shirts from now until game day. Geneva’s sales will support the LivingWell Cancer Resource Center in Geneva and Batavia’s will support Cal’s Angels and Batavia Activity and Athletic Foundation.

Each limited-edition T-shirt is $15. T-shirt sizes range from adult small to adult 2XL. All proceeds from T-shirt sales will be donated to LivingWell Cancer Resource Center and Cal’s Angels and Batavia Activity and Athletic Foundation.

“We are fortunate to live in two communities that are very supportive — not only of our athletes but of our local charities as well,” said Geneva Athletic Director Dave Carli. “Competing for a Cause is about more than a passionate competition; it’s about acting as leaders to help others in need.”

“There is a special feeling in the air whenever our schools meet in competition. The players, coaches, and fans feel it. We capitalize on that feeling during the “Competition for a Cause”, and our local charities benefit from it. We are thrilled to be partnering with Geneva High School again,” said Batavia High School varsity football coach, Dennis Piron.
